Takes us into a hidden world of prostitution and sexual trafficking through the eyes of one of its survivors, Brenda Myers-Powell.
Storyline
While making the film, Crack House USA in Chicago in 2009, writer, producer Lisa Stevens met Stephanie Daniels-Wilson, founder of the Dreamcatcher Foundation. Stephanie and her Dreamcatcher co-founder, Brenda Myers-Powell, introduced Stevens to their work with young girls and women who were victims of sex trafficking. Stevens spent the next three year developing a relationship with Brenda and Stephanie. For Stevens, this relationship produced a deeper understanding of the work they do, which lead to the development of a treatment for a feature documentary. Teddy Leifer joined Stevens in 2012 to raise the production funds. Kim Longinotto came on board in 2013 to shoot and direct. Stevens and Longinotto spent an intense ten weeks on location filming in Chicago. Over the ten weeks, Longinotto shot about 27 hours of footage. Post production commenced at Splice Post Production in London. Editor Ollie Huddleston was engaged to work with Longinotto to cut the film. Stevens provided editorial guidance and key music and archive throughout the edit.
