The uninquisitive Syms Covington, Charles Darwin's servant, recalls the HMS Beagle's historical second voyage concentrating on all the wrong details. On his voyage Syms witnesses many amazing spectacles, including poor hammock use, a doctor with a thirst for blood, and morally questionable members of the clergy.
