Storyline
While she is called Harriet Tubman from the start in the film, in real life her slave name was actually Araminta "Minty" Ross. When she gave up her slave name and chose her own name, she took her mother's name, Harriet, and called herself Harriet Ross; when she married she became Harriet Ross Tubman.
