The title of this television mini-series and its source 1958 best-selling novel by Nancy Cato of the same name is taken from the from Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. It reads: "All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full: unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again" - Ecclesiastes 1:7.
