Kavita is the story of a young middle class woman torn between her love and devotion for her family and her duty towards her best friend. Kavita falls in love and marries Rishi Grover, the only son of a rich business man. Unaware of Rishi's background, Kavita steps into his house to realize that Rishi has married her against the wishes of his family. The strongest opposition to their marriage is from Rishi's mother, Malini, a high flying, status-conscious socialite. Malini finds her daughter-in-law's catering job at parties utterly humiliating and below her social class.
