Before becoming a full production, the series initially originated as two "The SpongeBob SquarePants Anime Openings", both uploaded onto YouTube between 2017-2018. It was after both videos got widespread critical acclaim that the creator announced that he'll be producing a SpongeBob SquarePants Anime Series. The announcement came on August 24th, a year after the first SpongeBob Anime Opening was uploaded to YouTube. 6 months afterwards another SpongeBob Anime Opening was released titled "The SpongeBob SquarePants Anime Opening 3". This was later used as the opening theme in Episode 1 (Bubble Bass Arc) of the series. A month later, whilst the series was in production, two "The SpongeBob SquarePants Anime" OST videos were released, titled 01. I'm Ready, and 02. The Krusty Crab. On the lead up to the release of the series, later that year, "The SpongeBob SquarePants Anime Ending" was released. And on June 6th 2020, the trailer for "The SpongeBob SquarePants Anime" series was released to YouTube. It was met with extensive praise from both anime fans and watchers of the original cartoon alike.
