Nearly century-old history, Brazilian animation brings rich and stimulating stories and characters that built the path until nowadays.

Storyline
A great tribute to the history of animation in Brazil, to the artists who, often without support and opportunities, added bricks to the great building of Brazilian animated films. There are amazing stories, collected in a very careful research, with good testimonies and a lot of footage, including TV advertisements and rare independent short films. One of them had been recently partially recovered and this was its first release in many decades. The documentary is divided in sections either chronological or by theme (abstract experiments or works in foreign land, for instance, besides so important film festival Anima Mundi). Between the segments, there is an interesting collective work of some animators, using diverse techniques, to compose a new short film in tribute to "O Kaiser" (1917), by Álvaro Marins, the first Brazilian animated film ever, which is unfortunately lost and of which remain just a single frame and several mentions in newspapers. The documentary is quite moving and it is hard to imagine how much sacrifice was needed for some masterworks to be made, by artists that, with a more favorite environment, could have produced much more great films.
