The "spy" in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was Robert Philip Hanssen. He was a former double agent who spied for Soviet and Russian intelligence services against the United States from 1979 to 2001. In 2002, he pleaded "guilty" for his crimes and received "15 consecutive life sentences with no possibility of parole." He is incarcerated in a Florence, Colorado "Super Max" Federal prison as of 2021, the year this documentary first aired.
